I never thought I’d say this, but I’m kind of desperate for another Justin Timberlake album to come out.
Remember in 2006, a few months before FutureSex/LoveSounds came out, when we all heard “SexyBack” for the first time? And we were like, “wait, who is this?” And then someone was like, “Duh, it’s Justin Timberlake.” And we were like, “WHAT THE FUCK.” It sounded so different, so much more mature and sexy and gritty than anything he’d done before.
Here’s an example: “Rock Your Body,” from 2002′s Justified:
Nothing wrong with this. It’s a great, catchy dance song. Check out his baggy white sweatsuit/jacket getup, and how he’s dancing inside a giant disco ball (??). This is light years beyond *NSync, which was the point of Justified, and lo, we were content.
Then this shit happened:
And our minds were BLOWN. It was like he took the Dial of Pop Music and twisted it a full fifteen clicks to the left– the beats got sharper, his voice got distorted, the lyrics even got dirtier (“I’ll let you whip me if I misbehave”). And check out how he looks in the video: shorter hair, that slim-fitting, tailored suit. Justin done grown up! In a supersexual, James Bond kind of way!
I know I’m not saying anything that hasn’t been said before (Mindy Kaling said all of this back in 2006, which is what inspired me to write this), but I really just want to get this out there: I’m ready for it to happen again! JTim, where’s the next pop revolution? We’re ready!

I second this awesome awesome motion. I LOVE FutureSex/LoveSounds. I love so many songs on it – my favorite is a toss-up between SexyBack and Damn Girl. I think it depends on the day.
I WANT WANT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN SO BAD NOW!

I KNOW! I think he might be working on a new album due out next year, but I’m really impatient for it to happen. SexyBack, Damn Girl, and My Love are my favorites. I looooooved Damn Girl the first time I heard it and listened to it for days straight!
