A blog that I used to love was Mindy Kaling’s Things I Bought That I Love. I hadn’t checked in on it in quite a while, so I went to look today. Alas, it is no more. In memoriam, here are some things I’ve found lately that I would love to buy, if I weren’t a broke-ass nigh-grad student.

First, here are a couple of sweet shirts from J. Crew. I’m actually at a point right now where I’m mostly really happy with my shirt collection, save for a couple of glaring gaps. One of those is some purple gingham:

I also love the color of the shirt on the left, which J. Crew is calling “Baltic.” It looks so fresh to me.

A brand that I’ve just started seeing around is called The Hill-Side, and they’re doing some amazing things with cotton, mostly in terms of pocket squares, ties, and scarves.

They mostly work in lightweight chambray, and what I’m really drawn to is their eye for combining color and texture– reds, blues, and purples that just barely pop look so great with the near-shimmery finish of the fabric. I was at Stag in Austin a few weeks ago and kept gravitating back to the red Hill-Side pocket squares, picking them up and touching them.

The other thing at Stag that I loved was their selection of Alternative Apparel hoodies.

They’re cut great, but the real draw is that I have ne’er felt so soft a fabric. These would be so perfect for layering, or the exact thing you’d want to slip on after a long day in something painfully work-appropriate.

And finally, something that I will actually be buying, sooner than later:
